Safety Officer
Key tasks and Responsibilities 
  • Responsible for all HSE related activities and assist in HSE related matters in the day to day operation
  • Actively follow up the work performed on the Unit, correct unsafe conditions and promote safe behavior
  • Responsible for monitoring of new HSE regulations and procedures coming into force. Inform all parties concerned
  • Responsible for Safety familiarization and Permit To Work system training of all personnel joining the Unit
  • Plan, organize and follow up safety drills and training. Keep records
  • Administrate and control E-Learning and CBT Training
  • Organize and participate in HSE meetings. Implement and promote an efficient Safety Delegate system onboard
  • Responsible for administration of the Company reporting system
  • Perform the investigation of accidents, incidents, near miss reports and monitoring of these reports
  • Responsible for administration and update of safety notices and safety boards
  • Responsible for administration and follow up of Safety Observation Card program on board
  • Plan and carry out first line and preventive maintenance of Safety, Lifesaving and Firefighting equipment as per Computerised Maintenance Management System;
  • Ensure sufficient stock of relevant spare parts and consumables
  • Ensure safety, Life Saving Appliances and Fire Fighting Equipment equipment is timely serviced by authorized authorities and properly certified
  • Control use of health hazardous substances and monitor MSDS database
  • Liaise with shore based service provider for administration of MSDS database
  • Perform periodic inspections of scaffoldings and update scafftags
  • Liaise with OIM and other departments on HSE related issues
  • Ensure that Permit to Work system is controlled and adhered to as per requirements of the system
  • Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System by selecting and producing reports, updating records and generate work orders
  • Prepare required reports and maintain appropriate documentation
  • Ensure that vendors and contractors are managed safely and effectively
  • Undertake training relevant to the position requirements
  • Assist in competency assessment and performance evaluation of personnel
  • Verify and review the Company's Policies and procedures through the Offshore Management Review
  • Member of the Emergency Response Team

Experience

  • Employer requires 5 years experience as a Safety officer on offshore facilities or marine vessels; NEBOSH IGC or ITC an advantage
Skills
  • Good inter-personal and communications skills
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
